SPRING 2010 U-11 DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM  ~

2011 information coming soon!

There are two ways in which players in the U-11 age group can avail themselves of special training programsPlayers can register for the winter DDC or they can register for the spring development program. Players who do not attend the winter DDC program can still attend the spring sessions.

The Winter program is part of the BCSA/KYSA District Development Centre. In 2009-2010, players trained once a week for an hour and a half per session at the Kamloops Dome. KYSA staff coaches worked on all of the technical aspects of the game and helped players to improve their skills and understanding of how the game is played well. The players also worked on speed and agility and their core balance. This year all DDC participants received a t-shirt as part of the cost of registration. This was a 14-week program that started in November 2009 and ran through the end of February 2010, with a break for the Christmas/New Year's holidays.

The Spring program is also a weekly training program. This year, boys will train on Tuesdays from 6:00pm to 7:30pm and the girls on Thursdays from 6:00pm to 7:30pm at Mac Island Mini field. On Sundays, the players take part in jamborees in different communties, such as Vernon, Salmon Arm and Penticton. Kamloops also hosts one jamboree for boys and one for girls. The maximum number of players permitted in the program is 42 per gender, which allows for 3 squads to participate in each jamboree. These squads are mixed up for every jamboree. There are usually two games on Sundays against different opponents. The Kamloops squads do not play each other.

In the Spring program, the players also play on their house league team and attend their house league team practices. There isn’t a conflict with the house team game schedule as they normally play on Saturdays. The objective of this program is to let the players and their parents get a tast of what Rep soccer is all about. There will be travel, commitment and strong competition. If a player cannot make it on a given Sunday, there are normally enough players to cover.  However, KYSA encourages all players to be at every training session and at every jamboree. This is part of the learning curve for Rep soccer, where players are asked to make a significant commitment to everything that the Rep team does.

The Spring Program costs $125.00. This includes training once a week from the middle of April to the middle of June with jamborees on Sundays. The players will also receive a t-shirt, shorts and socks for the games they play in. The uniform is theirs to keep.

If your child is interested in playing Rep soccer in the future, give this program a try. Watch their skills improve!
