BCSA COACHING CLINIC SET FOR THIS WEEKEND!

KAMLOOPS, BC --- The second BCSA/National Coaching Certification Coaching Course to be offered in Kamloops prior to the start of the 2010 soccer season, the Community Coach-Senior (CC-S), is scheduled to take place February 27/28, at South Sahali Elementary School.

The CC-S course is primarily geared toward coaches working with players in the 14 and older age groups. The contents of this course are tailored more for a competitive level of youth soccer and touch on the following areas: stages of development, advanced technical skill development, aspects of coaching, coaching team play (systems/tactics), set plays, coaching the goalkeeper, attacking and defending principles, fitness, physical preparation (warm-up and cool-down), first-aid, ethics, and safety and liability.  However, the course is also suitable for any coaches who have played, or are still playing, the game for a lengthy period and are wanting to enter the coaching ranks at any age.

There is still an opportunity for KYSA coaches to register for this course.

The registration fee is $145 per person. KYSA reimburses its coaches one-half the fee upon completion of the course, and the other half after the person has coached one of its teams for a full season.

The first course of the year––the Community Coach-Youth––drew 15 participants and was held over the last weekend of January. The BCSA-appointed course conductor was former KYSA head coach and current co-head coach of the TRU men’s team, John Antulov. John will also be the facilitator for the CC-S course.

The National Coaching Certification Program exists to support and foster the development and education of coaches from the grassroots to elite levels of play throughout the country. The series of clinics within the program serve to prepare coaches to impart their knowledge more efficiently and effectively to the players that they work with on a daily basis.

Anyone interested in taking either course can register on-line through the BC?Soccer Association at www.bcsoccer.net (Coaching Clinics)
