KYSA had a total of 11 Select teams travel down to Surrey, BC over March 10-12, 2023 to participate in the annual Mayor’s Cup kick-off tournament.
All 11 teams played hard fought games with great competition in each division. KYSA teams had success both on and off the pitch, showed very well with all scores finishing within a couple of goals. Three teams to highlight are the U16 boys, U17 boys and U18 girls.
The U16 boys, coached by Mark Bell, went 3-0-1 on the weekend finishing with 21 points and bringing home GOLD!
The U17 boys team, coached by Pasqualino Cuzzetto, went 4-0-0, including one shutout to finish with 25 points also winning GOLD!
The U18 girls team ended the weekend with a 2-0-2 record, enough to finish 2nd place and win SILVER! Coach Chuck Parkin stated, “All KYSA athletes made outstanding contributions at critical times, out-working their
opponents. The opposing teams identified Morgan Eichenberger, Rebekah Hansen, Karys Johnson and Andie Velichko as the game MVPs.”
