Hello valued KYSA members/players,
In the spring of 2018 our club was a participant in a Gender Gap project funded jointly by the BC Sport Branch and Sport Canada. This project was initiated by the Sport for Life Society in 5 communities in BC in May of 2018. At that time, a group of KYSA coaches and Kamloops sport leaders took part in a Sport for Life workshop entitled “Building a Positive Environment for Female Athletes”. The purpose of the project was to gather information through online survey of sport coaches and the young female athletes they coach as to how they feel about sport and physical activity. A significant number of young females do not embrace sport and physical activity as teens and we are hopeful that this project will help shed some light on why this is so.
Surveying is an important component of this initiative, and your feedback is valuable. Could you please have your child take a few minutes to complete the online survey at the link below? Note that for comparison purposes, survey responses are being collected for female AND male participants. (While the survey is intended to capture the thoughts / opinions of youth participants, feel free to assist them with understanding / completion if necessary.)
